Towards, Not To


Setting your trajectory towards something rather than to it takes away the barrier of uncertainty about how you get to that thing. It puts the emphasis on the first and second steps, not on the final steps before the destination or the thousand steps between where you are now and your desired destination. The pursuit of fitness (or whatever else) often stops before it starts because of the daunting nature of reaching the finish line.

Do yourself a favor, forget for a moment about the destination and just start moving one step closer towards whatever it is. At worst, this approach takes you closer to your goal and brings emphasis onto the process. At best, this is the framing the sets you on the path that does eventually take you to that finish line.
