This week marks the start of the 2017 CrossFit Open. For some, this is the first step in the journey to the CrossFit Games to compete for the title of CrossFit's Fittest on Earth. For others, this may be a casual first-time exposure to athletic competition. Regardless of your athletic status, consider this your chance to test yourself on the personal, local, national, and international leaderboards to see how you stack up. Worried that you can't do all of the movements prescribed in CrossFit? Worry not! The Open will include scaled, as well as masters and teen divisions, to give you an opportunity to compete at your skill and preparation level.
The goal with The Open, of course, is to do well, to give your best effort, and to perform better than you have in previous competitions. But the purpose is also to gather together as a community and celebrate the hard work we've done to get here. It is an opportunity to give additional purpose to your training, to cheer on fellow teammates, and of course to enjoy the afterparty.
For the next five weeks, we will be hosting two events every week for the Open:
Thursdays at 5:00pm we will gather 'round the projector to watch the weekly Open announcement together, followed by our regularly-scheduled 6pm class.
Fridays at 5:30pm we will host our Main Event. We will go over the workout, talk Xs and Os, and complete a group warm-up before taking on the Open workout together. Judges will be on-hand to officiate, and the event will be followed immediately by a potluck-syle hangout. We'll bring the meat to grill up, you bring whatever else you want!
The Friday night event will replace our regularly-scheduled 6pm class.
Not signed up yet? It's not too late. Sign up (HERE), join our team, and get in on the fun!
