It's More Than Just Calories


Prevailing health wisdom claims that calories are king when it comes to fat loss and fat gain, and we’ve all heard the pithy “calories in, calories out” advice for how to lose weight. Yet, there’s both science and common experience that suggests there may be far more at play. Calories are a large part of the equation, sure, but are we ready to claim that 1,000 calories of Fritos are the same as 1,000 calories of broccoli are the same as 1,000 calories of ground beef?

In a talk given at a recent CrossFit Health Conference, Gary Taubes goes into past and current theories on what regulates our body composition. Hint: it goes beyond just calories.
