I imagine that you have come across the idea that you can’t out-train a bad diet. This idea is certainly true; but often forgotten is that the inverse (and a number of other parallels) are as well. While you can’t out-train a bad diet, you also can’t out-diet poor training or no training. You can eat all the pasture-raised meats and organic vegetables you want -- your body isn’t going to adapt to function or perform better unless you apply some stress, too. This idea applies to all of the other best practices you could name for health and fitness as well. You can’t out-foam-roll poor movement. You can’t out-sleep a sedentary lifestyle. You can’t out-supplement damaging lifestyle habits.
While it would be convenient to be able to pick on thing from the list -- the thing that we enjoy most -- and put all of our eggs in that basket, that’s not the way it works. You have to play the whole game, not just the parts you like best.
