Workout of the Day

05252020 - MEMORIAL DAY

temp-post-image

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance commemorating the men and women who died while in the military service of their country. It also marks the unofficial start of the summer. Ideally, the latter doesn’t overshadow the day’s true meaning. We chose to honor the fallen with our effort and by creating a community donation for both veterans and the families left behind. In our yearly tradition we performed the CrossFit Hero workout “Murph” on Saturday. You can read the story here. CrossFit Hero workouts always come with a story. Sadly, the stories of bravery, valor, and sacrifice often get overlooked...just like the true meaning of the holiday that was created to remember them.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, today of all days, take a minute to read the story...any story. Take a minute to think about the survivors that have been left to carry the burden of the fallen. Above all act accordingly, especially when speaking with the families, service members, and veterans. Be genuine, listen, and support them. I’m not going to tell you what to say, that’s for you to decide. If your actions are in true dedication to the holiday you might just walk away with something more important than a day off.

This year we have committed to making a community donation to the Travis Manion Foundation. The recommended donation is $25. If you were unable to join us on Saturday you still have the opportunity to participate by doing “Murph” today and making your contribution here. If you’ve already paid tribute then you earned a “rest day.” Take care of your body with some light activity and plenty of mobility.

See you out there. #developyourself
